Dealing with Pre-Diabetes
Before developing Type 2 diabetes, one almost always has what is called "pre-diabetes." Pre-diabetes is a condition where blood glucose levels are higher than normal, but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. People with pre-diabetes have a significant risk of developing overt diabetes.
WakeMed's Diabetes Management Program offers a 31⁄2-hour, one-day seminar at WakeMed North Healthplex and WakeMed Cary Hospital to help people at-risk for diabetes. Our class, taught by a registered nurse and registered dietitian, focuses on nutrition, weight management, diet, exercise and behavioral changes. The class fee is $55.
To register, or for more information, please call the WakeMed Diabetes Management Program at 919-350-7292.
