Patient & Visitor Information

If you suspect that you or someone around you is having a stroke call 9-1-1 immediately.

WakeMed is home to two award-winning, Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Centers, located at our Raleigh Campus hospital and our Cary Hospital.  If you will be visiting one of our campuses, please allow us to provide you with resources and information that will be helpful before and during your time with us.

WakeMed Emergency Departments

WakeMed's seven emergency departments are conveniently located throughout Wake County and are staffed with board-certified emergency medicine physicians, with specialists available as needed.

Our emergency departments treat patients who are brought in through local EMS by ambulance. Additionally, on-site helipads at our healthplexes accommodate our helicopter, WakeMed Air Mobile, for patients who must be air lifted to the hospital.
