Ebola Update: Continue Point of Entry Screnings
As a reminder, staff at all portals of entry should be screening all incoming patients for recent international travel. We continue to receive patients from West Africa seeking health care at WakeMed. Rapid identification and isolation of suspected Ebola or MERS cases is critical to controlling the spread of these diseases within the US. Thank you for your cooperation.
Georgia Harrington to Become Interim Administrator, Cary Hospital, Effective April 10
As we prepare for David Coulter, senior vice president & administrator, (Cary Hospital) to leave WakeMed, Georgia Harrington, vice president (Operations), will assume the role of interim administrator of Cary Hospital. Coulter and Harrington will work closely together in the coming weeks to ensure a seamless transition of leadership. As she takes on this new role at Cary Hospital, Harrington will retain her current services and responsibilities with the exception of Raleigh Campus Food & Nutrition Services and Environmental Services. These departments will now report to Vicki Block, senior vice president & administrator (Raleigh Campus).
Volunteer for the Families On! Challenge
WakeMed and the YMCA of the Triangle are teaming up to host the Families On! Challenge on Saturday, April 25, at the WakeMed Soccer Park. This unique race is designed for any age, athletic ability and family composition and includes “everything you can’t do at home” – painting on the wall, throwing water in the house, jumping over a giant sofa and an epic food fight. Volunteers (age 14 and up) are needed Thursday, Friday and Saturday (April 23 – 25) to make this event a success – and have fun in the process. Volunteers will help with everything from throwing food to stuffing race bags. There is something for everyone, and all volunteers can race for free.
