Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Scores
The new hospital safety scores were recently released by Leapfrog Group. WakeMed Raleigh Campus received a B and WakeMed Cary Hospital received a C. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national nonprofit organization that works to initiate improvements in the safety, quality and affordability of health care.
WakeMed's participation in this survey positively impacts the system's scores at both hospitals. The scores also reflect quality and safety efforts WakeMed has implemented, including the hospital system's Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), the nursing program's robust leadership and, integrated patient safety and risk management programs, ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) prevention, hand hygiene efforts and the establishment of the eICU, among others.
