As a certified stroke center, WakeMed has proven that it provides quality care to stroke patients and follows national standards and guidelines that can significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients.
This expertise has benefitted more than 1,700 patients since WakeMed Raleigh Campus was originally certified as a primary stroke center in August 2006 by The Joint Commission, earning the Gold Seal of ApprovalTM for stroke care.
In 2008, Raleigh Campus was recertified as a primary stroke center. Cary Hospital also met primary stroke center criteria in 2008. The Raleigh Campus, which cares for approximately 100 stroke patients every month, has been recognized with a silver award from the American Heart and Stroke Association for excellence in stroke care.
