The WakeMed Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a group of scientists and non-scientists who come together at a convened board meeting to review research studies and advocate for the welfare and safety of patients and participants who volunteer to participate in human research studies and projects. The WakeMed IRB reviews and approves a variety of research projects to include, but not limited to, investigational drug and device studies, Nursing, Pharmacy as well as resident/student projects.

The IRB office is located at the WakeMed Raleigh Campus on the first floor. The phone number is (919) 350-8795 and the hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday except on official holidays.
Document your user name and password upon initial registration.
When initially registering on IRBNet (or sharing your study information with a collaborator) you must identify "WakeMed Health & Hospitals" as your location.
Be sure to log out after each session.
Once you have completed, electronically signed and submitted your study documents the IRB Office will review your submission for accuracy and completeness. You will be promptly notified via email should the IRB need additional information to process your submission.

IRB meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month at 7:30 a.m. in Conference Dining at WakeMed Raleigh Campus.
