Institutional Review Board (IRB)
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is the appropriately constituted group at WakeMed designated to review research to assure the protection of the rights and welfare of the human subjects involved.
The IRB office is located at the WakeMed Raleigh Campus on the third floor, just before the beginning of C Hall. The phone number is (919) 350-8795 and the hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday except on official holidays.

IRB Members
Investigators
As of May 5, 2011, the WakeMed IRB will only accept electronic protocol submissions via IRBNet. All current IRB submission forms are available at www.irbnet.org
- When initially registering on IRBNet (or sharing your study information with a collaborator) you must identify "WakeMed Health & Hospitals" as your location.
Once you have completed, electronically signed and submitted your study documents the IRB Office will review your submission for accuracy and completeness. You will be promptly notified via email should the IRB need additional information to process your submission.

If you have not yet registered on IRBNet:
- Review the PDF Energizer for IRBNet Registration (Requires Adobe Reader)
- Document your user name and password upon initial registration.
- When initially registering on IRBNet (or sharing your study information with a collaborator) you must identify "WakeMed Health & Hospitals" as your location.
- Be sure to log out after each session.

Meetings
IRB meetings are held on every second and fourth Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. in Conference Dining at WakeMed Raleigh Campus except March and December when there will be only one IRB meeting.
