The WakeMed Campus Police & Public Safety Department exists to protect and serve the employees, patients, and visitors of the WakeMed Health & Hospital system.
The department is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can be reached by calling the Central Communications Center at 919-350-8171.
Police and public safety officers man and/or patrol WakeMed Raleigh Campus, WakeMed Cary Hospital, WakeMed North Heathplex, WakeMed Apex Healthplex, and numerous remote sites to ensure the safest of environments.

State Medical Assistance Team
WakeMed Campus Police participates in the State Medical Assistance Team training. The SMAT Team is an affiliate of the Capital Regional Advisory Committee (CapRAC) of hospitals, emergency medical services, public health and other agencies that respond to disasters. The SMAT Team is comprised of an elite corps of clinical and non-clinical personnel who train and drill together in preparation for deployment to an area impacted by a disaster.
The WakeMed Emergency Communications Center
The WakeMed Emergency Communications Center opened in February 2008 and houses the emergency dispatch of the WakeMed Campus Police and Mobile Care units. Center dispatchers communicate with WakeMed officers on all campuses, with other area departments in an emergency, and control more than 400 CCTV cameras located on the various WakeMed campuses. The dispatchers also monitor the four WakeMed Helipads, panic alarms, door alarms, infant protection alarms, bank alarms, emergency call boxes, and fire alarms.
