Pediatric Intensivists 

	Mark Piehl, MD Medical Director, WakeMed Children's, WakeMed Faculty Physicians - Pediatrics Dr. Mark Piehl is a board-certified pediatrician who has been medical director of WakeMed Children's Hospital since 2009.  He is also director of pediatrics for WakeMed Faculty Physicians - Pediatrics and a clinical associate professor of pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine. He received his medical degree with honors from the UNC School of Medicine and his master's in public health from the UNC School of Public Health. He completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. He also earned a Zertifikat Deutsch (an internationally recognized exam of German language ability) from the University of Würzburg in Germany. He holds a bachelor's degree in German from Davidson College. Dr. Piehl is certified in internal medicine and pediatrics, with a subspecialty certification in pediatric critical care. He also holds certification in pediatric advanced life support, which he instructs. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the North Carolina Pediatric Society, the National Association of Inpatient Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
	David Adams, MD Dr. David Adams is a board-certified pediatrician who joined WakeMed Faculty Physicians - Pediatrics as a pediatric intensivist with extensive experience in critical care and emergency pediatric medicine. He is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine. Dr. Adams came to WakeMed after specializing in pediatric critical care at Betty Cameron Women and Children's Hospital in Wilmington, N.C. He was previously the attending physician in pediatric emergency medicine at Cape Fear Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C., and also practiced privately in Evanston, Wyo. He received his medical degree from the Creighton University School of Medicine, and completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital. He also completed a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Duke University Children's Hospital. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Wyoming. Dr. Adams is certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care by the American Board of Pediatrics. He also holds certifications in advanced trauma life support and pediatric advanced life support.
	Bridget Donell, MD Dr. Bridget Donell has been a board-certified pediatric intensivist and pediatric hospitalist with WakeMed Faculty Physicians - Pediatrics since 2009 and is also a clinical associate professor of pediatrics at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine. She is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care. She received her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, and completed her pediatric residency at UNC, followed by a pediatric critical care fellowship, also at UNC. She has a master's degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Virginia and a bachelor's degree in molecular and cell biology from Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Donell is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Society of Critical Care Medicine. In addition to her board certification with the American Board of Pediatrics, she is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
	Travis Honeycutt, MD Dr. Travis Honeycutt is a board-certified pediatrician who has been with WakeMed Faculty Physicians - Pediatrics since 2006, specializing in pediatric intensive care and inpatient pediatrics. He has previous experience with the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, Division of Community Pediatrics, where he was clinical instructor of pediatrics, and he also served as an employee physician for Wilmington Health Associates' Children's Clinic. Dr. Honeycutt received his medical degree with distinction from the UNC School of Medicine, and completed his pediatric residency at the UNC Department of Pediatrics. He also was a pediatric critical care fellow in the UNC Department of Pediatrics Division of Critical Care. He earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Duke University. Dr. Honeycutt has extensive experience in providing medical care in developing countries. While in medical school, he was awarded a fellowship to study a Kenyan pediatric immunization program and worked in a pediatric hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. He also worked with an AIDS Care Team and Mano Amiga Orphanage in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, has organized and led a volunteer public health campaign and home visitation for Outward Bound International in Costa Rica, served in the pediatric intensive care unit at Hospital Nacional de Los Ninos in San Jose, Costa Rica, and led and organized a multidisciplinary team to develop pediatric intensive care services in Kampala, Uganda. He is certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care by the American Board of Pediatrics, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He also is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
	Stephen Leinenweber, MD Dr. Stephen Leinenweber is a board-certified pediatrician who brings to WakeMed Faculty Physicians - Pediatrics extensive experience as a pediatric critical care physician with emphasis on traumatic brain injury, bioethics and teaching. His training in pediatric critical illness led him to basic science research and clinical research in traumatic brain injury, and he plans to continue this interest through clinical research, hospital committees and improving the care of pediatric patients who have suffered a traumatic injury. Dr. Leinenweber is an assistant professor of pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care at the University of North Carolina Department of Pediatrics, and is a consulting associate for the Department of Pediatrics at Duke University Medical Center. He has focused his efforts on teaching post-graduate physicians and medical students about the broad area of critical illness in the pediatric patient, and also has developed a teaching model to incorporate non-physicians (philosophers and attorneys) into rounds/conferences to teach about bioethics. Dr. Leinenweber received his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago and completed his pediatric residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago as well as a pediatric critical care fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. He also served as an international medical volunteer at the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center in Moshi, Tanzania. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatric critical care.
	Badie Travis Clark, III, MD Dr. Badie Clark is a board-certified intensivist who joined WakeMed Faculty Physicians - Pediatrics in 2012. He previously was assistant professor of pediatrics for the University of North Carolina School of Medicine Department of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the South East Area Health Education Center, Betty H. Cameron Women’s and Children’s Center, in Wilmington, N.C. Dr. Clark is also board certified in pediatrics and board eligible in critical care. He received his medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University before completing his family medicine internship at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, pediatric medicine residency at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, and fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Va. He holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C. In addition to his teaching experience, Dr. Clark has extensive research experience in the private sector and previous medical practice experience in community health.
	Ivy Peed Pointer, MD, MPH Dr. Ivy Pointer is a board-certified intensivist with WakeMed Faculty Physicians – Pediatrics, with training in pediatric critical care medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine and her master's degree in public health from the UNC School of Public Health. She completed her residency in pediatrics at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, where she is currently a fellow in pediatric critical care medicine. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in science from UNC-Chapel Hill, with a major in biology and minor in business administration. Dr. Pointer is certified in pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, North Carolina Pediatric Society and Society of Critical Care Medicine. In 2011, she received the Research Merit Award from the UNC Department of Pediatrics, and in 2007, she received the Kaiser Permanente Excellence in Teaching Award from UNC. Dr. Pointer serves as the volunteer medical director for youth triathlons for the Swim for Smiles Foundation in Chapel Hill and a volunteer youth group leader at Blacknall Presbyterian Church in Durham, N.C.

Pediatric Hospitalists 

	Karen Chilton, MD Dr. Karen Chilton is a board-certified pediatrician with WakeMed Faculty Physicians - Pediatrics who specializes in inpatient pediatrics/pediatric intensive care. She has been medical director of WakeMed's Comprehensive Pediatric Asthma Program since June 2005. She received her medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, and completed her residency in pediatrics at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Western Maryland College. Dr. Chilton has formally lectured to residents and medical students on various topics, conducted clinical teaching sessions on pertinent topics during rounds with residents and students, and completed the Pediatric Advanced Life Support instructor course with plans to teach pediatric advanced life support to WakeMed employees and the surrounding medical community.
	Holly Warner, RN, MSN, FNP Holly Warner is a board-certified advanced practice nurse with WakeMed Faculty Physicians - Pediatrics.  She has more than 17 years of practical experience in hospital care, primary care and academic environments.  Her special interests include child maltreatment and neglect as well as developmental disorders in childhood. She also serves as a clinical preceptor for Duke University pediatric nurse practitioner students, teaching continuing education classes for experienced pediatric nurses and orientation classes for new pediatric nurses.  As a family nurse practitioner, Warner is responsible for managing inpatient pediatric patients, and she specializes in medical care for children who are victims of child abuse, including acute medical care, communicating with Child Protective Services and law enforcement when indicated, and developing safe discharge plans with appropriate follow up.   Warner received her master's degree in nursing to become a family nurse practitioner and her bachelor's degree in nursing at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, and she holds certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
	Michael G. Goley, MSN, RN, CPNP Michael Goley is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner who joined WakeMed Faculty Physicians - Pediatrics as a clinical instructor with The University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Nursing, where he supervises undergraduate nursing students on a pediatric unit as well as family nurse practitioners and pediatric nurse practitioners during their clinical rotations. His previous experience includes per diem nurse liaison for Walgreen's Optioncare and ward team coordinator/pediatric nurse practitioner for the Pediatric Hospitalist Team at the UNC School of Medicine. He serves on the Master's Admission Committee for the School of Nursing at UNC-Chapel Hill. Goley received his master's degree in nursing from UNC-Chapel Hill and his bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. He is a member of the national and local chapters of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau International Alpha Xi Chapter. Goley also holds certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
