RALEIGH, N.C. (May 5, 2020) – Amid a tremendous outpouring of support for the WakeMed Foundation to assist with urgent needs as WakeMed responds to COVID-19, the Foundation has received a grant from Bank of America to further advance response efforts in the Raleigh community and beyond.

Bank of America’s $100,000 grant to the WakeMed Foundation will help expand immediate access to mobile testing and support the WakeMed’s Employee Assistance Fund. The Fund was established to provide financial resources for members of the WakeMed family – employees directly impacted by COVID-19 – including childcare services or support following a spouse or partner’s loss of work, among other critical financial needs.

The WakeMed Foundation’s COVID-19 response efforts focus on the areas of greatest needs in the region, including: increasing testing capacity for the community and healthcare workers; increasing homeless shelters’ access to telemedicine; providing resources to patients and families in crisis; and providing financial resources to healthcare workers experiencing hardship due to COVID-19.

“This support from Bank of America will make an incredible impact on the driving force behind WakeMed – our employees,” said Brad Davis, executive director of the WakeMed Foundation. “We are incredibly grateful for this gift and the community’s unwavering compassion during these challenging times.”

“As we collectively navigate this time of increased need, we recognize that the private sector can play a pivotal role in helping our communities,” said Kari Stoltz, Triangle Market President for Bank of America. “We are dedicated to supporting the WakeMed healthcare workers who are at the forefront of the coronavirus response, as well as WakeMed’s innovative solutions for expanding testing and other urgent programs to aid the Triangle community.”

With seven emergency departments and three hospitals throughout the region, WakeMed is playing a significant role in our community’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Our community’s generous support allows WakeMed to continue to care for those who need us, while protecting the safety and well-being of our patients and staff.
