Mobile Mammography Event

Mobile MammoWakeMed will be offering free mammograms to uninsured women at our Mobile Mammography event at Raleigh Medical Park this year – from Monday, October 21 - Thursday, October 31.

WakeMed is pleased to offer 3D mammogram technology as the standard of care, providing the highest cancer detection rate and reducing unnecessary call backs.

3D mammography is the most modern screening and diagnostic tool available for early detection of breast cancer. Using a low dose x-ray, it is used to look for breast cancer in people with no signs or symptoms of the disease. It can also be used to investigate the cause of breast problems, such as a breast mass, pain and nipple discharge.

Mammography plays a central part in early detection of breast cancers because it shows changes in the breast up to two years before a patient or physician can feel them. Current guidelines from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the American Cancer Society (ACS), the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR) recommend a screening mammography every year for women, beginning at age 40.

Insured women should schedule their annual screening mammogram at one of our Outpatient Imaging locations. Scheduling your mammogram appointment is easy and can be done at your convenience in your WakeMed MyChart account or online.
