Rana Oueijan
Doctor of Pharmacy Candidate, Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences

In college, I volunteered at WakeMed in the Outpatient Pharmacy. The fulfillment that I experienced when helping patients with their medications and the idea of lifelong learning motivated me to pursue a career in health care.
While in pharmacy school, I knew I wanted to prioritize rotation experiences at WakeMed. The mentorship that I received from preceptors and pharmacists during this time gave me the confidence I needed to strengthen my clinical skills. My preceptors consistently provided me with support and encouragement and presented me with opportunities to maximize my learning. After graduation, I am pursuing a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at WakeMed!

Laurel Jennings
Future Education Model Dietetics Certificate Program student, NC Central University

Following a diagnosis of cancer in my immediate family during my freshman year of college, I began to research the impact that nutrition had on chronic disease. Empowering people with knowledge they can use to impact their own health was something that drove me to pursue a career in health care.
My food service rotation at WakeMed was extremely positive, which was largely influenced by the positive relationships among the team and the trust given by my preceptor. She encouraged new projects and the contribution of my ideas at a management level. This prepared me to feel more confident in my judgement and grew my abilities in a leadership role.
