Float Pool Positions
Working in the WakeMed nursing float pool provides you with flexibility and competitive pay. Float pool nurses are able to develop their skills by floating within skill areas:
- Medical/Surgical, Telemetry and Stepdown
- Critical Care
- Adult and Children EDs
- Women, Infant and Children Services
- And more based on experience.
Search by title Clinical Nurse, Staffing Resources - opt 1, 2, 3, or 4
OPTION 1
- Availability: 32 hours per month minimum
- Shifts: 4, 8, or 12-hour
- Units: All areas
- Pay: $47.25 plus applicable shift differentials
- Benefits: Supplemental
OPTION 2
- Availability: 40 hours or more every two weeks
- Shifts: 4, 8, or 12-hour
- Units: All areas except non-clinical
- Pay: $52.00 plus applicable shift differentials
- Benefits: Supplemental
OPTION 3
- Availability: 48 hours or more every two weeks
- Shifts: 12-hour
- Units: Med/Surg/Tele, Peds, Mother/Baby, ENDO, Pre-Op
- Pay: $60.25 plus applicable shift differentials
- Benefits: Supplemental
OPTION 4
- Availability: 48 hours or more every two weeks
- Shifts: 12-hour
- Units: Critical Care, ED, Labor & Delivery, PICU, NICU, SCN, PACU, IR, OR
- Pay: $63.25 plus applicable shift differentials
- Benefits: Supplemental
Requirements:
- Applicants must hold a current NC RN license and have worked in the skills area applied for in a hospital for the past two years.
- Current CPR certification (additional certifications may be required dependent on work areas)
Scheduling:
- Float Pool Cover
- Raleigh Campus
- Cary Hospital
- North Hospital
- Healthplex EDs
- No weekends or holidays required for Supplemental
- Self-scheduling: per pay option - set your own hours
- 4-hour, 8-hour, and 12-hour shifts
Orientation Requirements:
- New employee orientation (Monday, 7:45 am to 4:30 pm)
- Clinical orientation (Tuesday & Wednesday, 8:15 am - 4:30 pm)
- Department orientation
- Additional orientation as needed

WakeMed offers full time benefits-eligible positions in the float pool. These positions provide scheduled hours, premium pay and benefits while floating within select skills areas:
- Medical/Surgical, Telemetry and Stepdown
- Critical Care
- Adult and Children ED areas

- Availability: Full time (72-80 hours each pay period)
- Shifts: 12-hour
- Units: Med/Surg/Tele
- Pay: $52.00 plus applicable shift differentials

- Availability:
- Shifts: 12-hour
- Units: Critical Care, ED
- Pay: $54.50 plus applicable shift differentials
- Benefits: Full time

Contract Positions

OPTION 7
- Availability: Full time (72 hours each pay period)
- Shifts: 12-hour Days/Evenings
- Units: Various
- Pay: $70.00 plus applicable shift differentials
- Benefits: Supplemental
OPTION 8
- Availability: Full time (72 hours each pay period)
- Shifts: 12-hour Nights
- Units: Various
- Pay: $70.00 plus applicable shift differentials
- Benefits: Supplemental
Requirements:
- Specific qualifications vary per unit; Applicants must hold a current NC RN license and have worked in the skills area applied for in a hospital for the past two years.
Scheduling:
- Weekends and holidays per contracted unit requirements
- Scheduled per unit need: 3 shifts/week
- 12-hour shifts available
- On call per contracted unit requirements
