Love Light

Love Light

The Love Light traditions started in 1985 with the generosity of Dr. Bill and Colleen Lee, who donated the first Love Light Tree in memory of their son, Matthew William Lee (March 5, 1979 – November 26, 1984).

Today, the tradition continues throughout the year as Love Light donations are made in honor or memory of someone special. These gifts are a great way to give back to your community while remembering a loved one or honoring a special relative, child, friend, neighbor, physician, nurse or colleague.

Meet our Love Light Family

About the video: At just six days old, baby Teddy was rushed to WakeMed Children's where he was diagnosed with a brain bleed and blood clot. His first-time parents found compassionate care in the PICU where Father Alapaty and Dr. Sullivan officiated Teddy's emergency Catholic baptism. One year following this terrifying time, Teddy's family could find no better way to celebrate his one-year birthday than through donations to the WakeMed Foundation and PICU.

Remember Loved Ones with a Gift

We invite you to honor or remember as many loved ones as you like by naming a Light, a Wish or Star in their honor to help light our Love Light Tree.

The names of the loved ones you wish to recognize will receive a gift acknowledgement letter to be mailed to your recipient(s) or their family as notification of your generous gift.

Donate to Love Light.
