Courage to Confront Crisis

WakeMed's Mental Health & Well-Being Hospital

We are developing a new Whole-Person Health Campus on a 56-acre site in Garner. The new campus will include a 150-bed Mental Health & Well-Being Hospital connected to a 45-bed acute care hospital, symbolizing the deep connection between mental and physical health.

The Mental Health & Well-Being Hospital will serve five distinct patient populations:

  1. Patients under age 18, who face unique pressures, distinct from other age groups
  2. Young adults, 18 to 26, who need skills and confidence to deal with life’s transitions
  3. Patients over 18, struggling with addictions and seeking support on their journey to sobriety
  4. Adults, 18+, who require 24/7 care for emotional or psychiatric issues
  5. Seniors, 65+, who need support for behavioral health issues

Plans are to break ground in 2025 and open in 2027.

Someone you love, someone you work with, someone who lives in your neighborhood or someone unknown to you in your community will thrive because of WakeMed’s comprehensive and innovative care — and your gift.

As an agent of change for more than 60 years, WakeMed is prepared to take the lead in confronting the current mental health crisis in our community. There is no better investment you can make in this community and its future than helping WakeMed provide much needed mental health resources.

Our $5OM Philanthropic Campaign
