Communications & Dispatch
WakeMed Mobile Critical Care utilizes communications specialists to answer calls for service from patients, visitors, regional 911 centers and police departments.
Communications specialists operate out of the WakeMed Emergency Communications Center, which houses the emergency dispatch of the WakeMed Campus Police and Mobile Critical Care units.
WakeMed communications specialists arrange patient transport by ground and air for WakeMed and coordinate these transports with surrounding health care systems. Our communicators also coordinate air operations with regional 911 centers for "on scene" transports. All of these transports are categorized to provide a level of care from EMT through Paramedic, RN, RT and pediatric care.
Certified in a variety of disciplines, meeting or exceeding federal and state guidelines, many of the specialists bring field experience to the organization.
