RALEIGH, N.C. (June 24, 2024) – WakeMed Raleigh Campus, WakeMed Cary Hospital and WakeMed North Hospital received top recognition as being among the best maternity care hospitals in the nation, according to a national ranking by Newsweek based on data from Statista.

The distinction recognizes WakeMed as a proven leader in providing the highest level of quality care for expectant mothers and their babies. This is the third annual ranking of America's Best Maternity Hospitals, and WakeMed has been named a five-ribbon hospital all three years. Of the 404 hospitals to make this year’s list, only 168 hospitals—including WakeMed—were given a five-ribbon performance ranking.

Newsweek’s 2024 list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals spotlights facilities that have excelled in providing care to mothers, newborns and their families and have fully met Statista’s standards for maternity care on evidence-based, nationally standardized metrics.

The rankings are based on a nationwide survey of hospital managers and maternity healthcare professionals; patient survey data; and relevant hospital quality metrics from several sources including The Joint Commission, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the Health Resources and Services Administration.

WakeMed North Hospital’s data was incorporated into tabulations with WakeMed Raleigh Campus because the two facilities operate under the same CMS license. The full methodology can be found here.

With three full-service hospitals offering a patient-focused birthing experience, WakeMed Health & Hospitals delivers more babies than any other health system in Wake County — more than 9,000 new lives each year.

WakeMed’s birthing centers at each hospital offer personalized care for the entire family, state-of-the-art facilities, expert care for babies needing extra help, lactation/feeding support, childbirth and parenting classes, and access to WakeMed doula services.
