WakeMed Receives Two “As,” One “B” from The Leapfrog Group
November 15, 2024RALEIGH, N.C. (November 15, 2024) – WakeMed earned top grades in the latest Hospital Safety Grades, released today by The Leapfrog Group. WakeMed Raleigh Campus and WakeMed Cary Hospital both received “As” for patient safety in its Fall 2024 report card while WakeMed North Hospital received an honorable “B” grade. These scores match WakeMed’s Spring 2024 ratings.
WakeMed Raleigh Campus and WakeMed Cary Hospital have now received “A” grades seven times in a row—a feat accomplished by only 241 hospitals in the country. Additionally, according to The Leapfrog Group, less than 30% of hospitals nationally—and 43 in NC—received “A” grades on the Fall 2024 scores.
The Fall Safety Grades are based on performance against 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. As in previous years, all WakeMed hospitals performed very well on process and structural measures, and the health system’s HCAHPS-related results were above the Leapfrog mean (average) in all areas.
