About Me
Dr. Mark Henin is a Pediatric Endocrinologist with clinical interests in diabetes, growth, delayed/early puberty and the thyroid. He is Co-Director of the WakeMed Pediatric Thyroid Center, specializing in care of thyroid nodules/malignancies, hyperparathyroidism and hypo/hyperthyroidism.
Dr. Henin completed Pediatric Residency at Levine Children’s Hospital. After graduating residency, he spent one year working as a General Pediatrician in the Carolinas Healthcare System. He then completed his Fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Dr. Henin was instrumental in conducting research in a lab dedicated to studying the pathophysiology of insulin dependent diabetes in mice while completing his fellowship. He shared his knowledge on this research and a variety of other endocrine topics at conferences throughout North Carolina, and in published articles. He has been recognized for his hard work and dedication by receiving several awards throughout his career.
When treating patients, Dr. Henin strives to strive to engage and work with families to develop a treatment plan customized to their child’s unique needs.
In his free time, Dr. Henin enjoys spending quality time with his wife, two children, and pup. He loves traveling to experience a variety of cultures and foods, lounging on the beach, barbecuing and rooting for the Carolina Panthers.
