Robert Ferguson, DO

Dr. Robert Ferguson is a board-certified cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon dedicated to providing a patient and family centered approach with the most advanced technologies available.

Dr. Ferguson specializes in a wide array of cardiac and thoracic surgeries with a distinct interest in minimally invasive robotic procedures. His clinical interests include Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS), lung cancer, esophageal cancer, thymoma, valve repairs and replacements, coronary artery bypass graft, open heart surgery, aortic dissection, and aneurysm. He earned his medical degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at Virginia Tech – Carilion School of Medicine. Dr. Ferguson is fellowship trained in cardiothoracic surgery from Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Dr. Ferguson understands the thought of chest surgery can be frightening for patients. He strives to provide patients the best care through a patient and family-centered approach. He utilizes a combination of minimally invasive robotic surgery and enhanced recovery techniques which allow for smaller incisions and the fastest recovery possible.

Outside of work, Dr. Ferguson enjoys spending time with his wife Chelsea and daughter Vivian. He enjoys camping, mountain biking, trail running, gardening, fishing, golfing and DIY home projects.
