About Me
Dr. Brad Avery is a clinical neuropsychologist who joined the WakeMed team in 2022. He specializes in adult neuropsychology, with special clinical interests in dementia, movement disorders, cognitive sequelae of brain injury and stroke, primary mental health conditions, and normal cognitive aging. A North Carolina native, Dr. Avery earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wake Forest University prior to completing his doctorate degree in clinical psychology at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. He completed his internship and post-doctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology with the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
Dr. Avery uses a flexible approach to neuropsychological assessment to ensure that each patient receives the most individualized and comprehensive care possible. He enjoys the opportunity to learn about each patient’s unique background and strives to provide practical, evidence-based recommendations that will enhance the well-being of patients and their caregivers. In his spare time, Dr. Avery enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, rock climbing, and playing the piano.
