About Me
Dr. Kishan Parikh is a board-certified, fellowship-trained advanced heart failure cardiologist. He has unique expertise in managing heart failure, ranging from early to later stages, including use of left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) also known as mechanical heart pumps and heart transplantation. He also has extensive experience managing pulmonary vascular diseases that may cause pulmonary hypertension. Advances in these fields have led to significant improvements in quality and length of life, and his goal is to bring these advances to patients at WakeMed.
Dr. Parikh served as academic faculty at Duke University for several years prior to joining WakeMed and now continues as an adjunct professor at Duke. He has published over 70 articles in major journals on the topics of heart failure and pulmonary hypertension, served as the principal investigator of several clinical trials and is an invited speaker on these topics at international meetings.
Dr. Parikh grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania. Watching the rewarding interactions between his father and his patients in primary care inspired Dr. Parikh to become a physician. After serving as a chief resident at the University of Chicago, he trained in cardiology and advanced heart failure fellowships at Duke University. He is proud to be part of the WakeMed Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension program and to be on an exceptional team at the WakeMed Heart Center.
Dr. Parikh and his wife Anita have two daughters and live in Raleigh.
