Kim Thames, PA-C

Kim Thames is a physician assistant with clinical interests in orthopaedics, surgery and trauma. She also enjoys the hands-on skills and technical challenges provided in these specialties. She has a master of medical science in physician assistant studies from Charleston Southern University, Charleston, SC.

Thames’ patient approach centers around patient involvement and education. She acknowledges that surgery and trauma are frightening life experiences, so she values the opportunity to talk through the condition and treatment plan. She enjoys educating patients on what their health concern means and how it can affect them in their daily life, explaining in a way that makes sense. Thames finds that when patients understand what is recommended, they are much more likely to offer their opinion and stay engaged, which typically leads to better compliance and outcomes.

When not at work, Thames loves hiking, camping, exploring new places and traveling. She also enjoys photography, reading, watching movies and playing with her pets.
