About Me

Dr. Adam Kline is a hospitalist with clinical interests centered around improving the experience for patients admitted to the hospital. He understands that quality improvement projects based on feedback from hospital staff are paramount to improving hospital outcomes and patient comfort. His goal is to work on quality improvement initiatives at WakeMed. Because of his fluency in Spanish, he is also interested in practicing with, and making medicine more approachable for the Spanish-speaking populations within the Triangle. Dr. Kline earned his bachelor’s degree through Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans, LA. He remained in New Orleans for medical school, attending Tulane University School of Medicine.

Dr. Kline finds the challenges of hospital medicine not just demanding but profoundly rewarding, as they allow him to care for patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives — when they are at their sickest, most distressed and grappling with uncertainty. This unique aspect of his practice provides him a sense of purpose, compelling him to offer compassion and clarity amidst the chaos of acute medical episodes.

Being the only physician in his family, he is aware of the anxiety and confusion that often accompany medical crises, which drives him to frame his clinical decisions and communication through the lens of what he would desire for his own loved ones if they were in similar situations. He understands that patients and their families navigate complex medical terminology, varied treatment options and unpredictable prognoses, and he strives to convey this information in an approachable and understandable manner. By fostering a supportive dialogue that respects the emotional turmoil often accompanying critical illness, Dr. Kline makes it his mission to bridge the gap between the clinical realities of hospital care and the human need for empathy and reassurance. His approach not only seeks to empower patients with knowledge but also aims to instill a sense of hope, turning overwhelming circumstances into manageable experiences, ultimately enhancing the quality of care he delivers.

Outside of work, Dr. Kline loves the great outdoors, specifically road biking, biking trips across the country, as well as camping in western NC. Additionally, he enjoys watching live musical performances, hosting cookouts and dinner parties and reading fiction.
