About Me

Amelia Thorpe is a nurse practitioner with clinical interests in rheumatology, mental health and cardiology. Thorpe earned two undergraduate degrees in health sciences from Asbury College in Wilmore, KY and in nursing from University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. She went on to complete her master of science in family nurse practitioner through Otterbein College in Westerville, OH.

Drawing upon her nursing background, Thorpe’s approach to care involves a succinct combination of active listening, empathy, problem solving and education. She works through the disease process with the patient, explaining they “why” behind symptoms, available treatment options and what to expect going forward. She also engages on a personal level with humor and lightheartedness when appropriate. Thorpe has found in her clinical experience that patients often need reassurance that everything is going to be okay, so educating them on normal immune function and physiology is key in her practice.

Outside of work, Thorpe’s life revolves around her two children, Solomon and Stella, as well as her husband, Josh! Thorpe’s children are involved in several extracurricular activities, and they actively attend to their faith community. As a family, they also enjoy traveling and spending time with their robust dog, Willy, who loves to chew up stuff. Overseas medical mission work is important to Thorpe, and she plans to undertake new opportunities as they arise.
