About Me

Amy Stevenson McCunney is a board-certified neonatal nurse practitioner caring for premature and ill newborns requiring specialized care. Her clinical interests include teaching and learning in the clinical setting and providing family-centered care. McCunney earned her undergraduate degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC, and her master of science in nursing from Duke University in Durham, NC. She began her career as a neonatal nurse in Level IV neonatal units across the state.

McCunney brings decades of nursing experience, with many dedicated to advanced practice. She follows evidence-based practices to make informed decisions and provide the highest quality care to her patients and their families. Her primary objective is to make the transition to the neonatal intensive care as smooth as possible. McCunney finds pleasure in caring for newborns at the onset of their journey and collaborating closely with the neonatal team to improve neonatal outcomes for all babies and their families.

McCunney enjoys several hobbies in her free time, including photography, knitting and spending time with her daughter.
