About Me
Dr. Andrew J. Sampson is a board-certified, fellowship-trained interventional and general cardiologist. He specializes in diagnosing all types of cardiovascular diseases and performs heart catheterizations, interventions and minimally invasive valve procedures, such as transcatheter aortic valve (TAVR) as part of our WakeMed Heart & Vascular Structural Heart care team. He performs interventional cardiology procedures to treat heart attacks and re-open blocked coronary arteries.
Dr. Sampson has a subspecialty certification in interventional cardiology and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He began his postsecondary education at Earlham College in Richmond, IN, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He went on to medical school at Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, OH. He completed his residency through University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC. He then served as a fellow at St.Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis, IN.
Dr. Sampson works with his patients to create a personalized care plan as he has a special interest in preventative cardiology. He takes the time to listen to patients to understand their cardiovascular condition and to deliver personalized, compassionate heart and vascular care.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Sampson enjoys spending time with his family and friends, cooking and exercising.
