Annie Westlund, NP

Annie Westlund is a nurse practitioner in neonatology with clinical interests in neonatal intensive care, where extremely low birth weight infants are a focal point for her. As a prior registered nurse in Greenville, SC, she was involved in starting the small baby unit, where they focused on improving long-term outcomes for this population. This led her to obtain certification in Care of the Extremely Low Birth Weight Neonate.

As a neonatal intensive care unit (ICU) registered nurse and now neonatal nurse practitioner, Westlund is committed to caring for her patients as if they were her own family. She realizes the neonatal ICU can be an unfamiliar place, and most families never expect it to be part of their journey. Understanding that the care team is central to the patient experience, Westlund believes she plays a vital part in ensuring parents are as involved as possible in their infant’s care and decision-making during their stay.

Outside of work, Westlund enjoys running and hiking. She also loves traveling with friends and family; tracking down the best lavender latte in town; and keeping up with her 75-pound, energetic puppy.
