About Me
Dr. Cameron Barber is a board-certified internal medicine physician who completed his sleep medicine fellowship at Harvard Medical School's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He treats all sleep disorders, including snoring, sleep apnea, insomnia and parasomnia. Clinical research is important to him. He is especially interested in challenging conditions, such as hypersomnia, narcolepsy and restless leg syndrome — including with augmentation.
Dr. Barber was born and raised in north Dallas, Texas. He attended undergraduate university at Texas Tech University. While at university, Dr. Barber obtained a degree in Zoology and a degree in German. During medical school, he became fascinated with the burgeoning field of sleep medicine. Being able to address both the immediate symptomatic aspects in addition to future preventative benefits of sleep is both rewarding and fulfilling.
Dr. Barber believes the relationship between a patient and physician is one of collaborative communication to reach the desired goal. He takes the time to provide patients with accurate information about their condition, explaining preventative care and treatment options.
Outside of work, Dr. Barber spends his free time with his wife, son and Labrador Retriever. Before COVID-19, his Labrador was a WakeMed therapy dog. Dr. Barber enjoys watching Disney and Pixar movies with his son. He and his family enjoy exploring nature and visiting museums. On Saturday mornings, you can often find him enjoying a walk at the NC Museum of Art.
