About Me
Board certified in both general pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine, Dr. Claudia Cadet joined WakeMed’s Neonatology team in 2016. Prior to joining WakeMed, she was an attending neonatologist at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, N.C., where she also served as head of the hospital’s Simulation Committee. Simulation as a way to improve resuscitation and clinical care is one of Dr. Cadet’s clinical interests within neonatology. She is also committed to global health work in Latin America that is centered around neonatal resuscitation and newborn care.
Originally from the Dominican Republic, Dr. Cadet earned her medical degree at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and her bachelor’s degree at Georgetown University. Her pediatric residency and neonatal-perinatal fellowship were both completed at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Cadet speaks fluent Spanish and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is trained as an instructor in “Helping Babies Breathe” and “Essential Care for Every Newborn.” She is also an assistant professor of pediatrics at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Married with two children, Dr. Cadet enjoys yoga, running and salsa dancing.
