About Me

Emily Skotthy is a physical therapist with clinical interests in the treatment of cardiopulmonary patients with breathing, endurance or activity tolerance issues for any medical reason, but most commonly the following: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), interstitial lung disease, other pulmonary conditions requiring use of supplemental oxygen as well as heart and vascular issues and post-COVID 19. She also has interest in treating patients with dysautonomia associated with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and other conditions.

Skotthy is dedicated to the art of patient care and takes the necessary time to foster meaningful relationships with each individual who walks through her door. Understanding that every patient is unique, she goes above and beyond to get to know them. By establishing a strong rapport with her patients, Skotthy is able to deliver treatment interventions that are not only individualized but also finely tailored to meet the specific needs and goals of each person. This personalized approach significantly enhances the likelihood of achieving optimal outcomes in their recovery and overall health.

In addition to her commitment to personalized treatment, Skotthy is passionate about educating her patients on the myriad benefits of physical activity. She firmly believes that knowledge is power, and she takes the time to discuss how regular exercise can improve physical health, boost mental well-being, and enhance quality of life. Skotthy works collaboratively with her patients and is skilled at adapting exercise plans to fit the abilities and preferences of her patients, ensuring that they remain functional and active throughout the various stages of life.

Skotthy’s holistic approach not only aims to address current physical issues but also emphasizes the importance of prevention and long-term health. By empowering her patients with the knowledge and tools necessary to stay active, she is helping to ensure that they can enjoy fulfilling and independent lives for as long as possible.

Outside of work, Skotthy enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends as well as traveling and tailgating for NC State Wolfpack football games.
