About Me

Dr. Winberry is a pediatric gastroenterologist with clinical interests in inflammatory bowel disease and liver disorders, as well as patients with general gastrointestinal disorders.

Dr. Winberry started his career in 2011. During this time, he completed a pediatric residency and a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Vanderbilt University. He was recognized with several awards for work completed during his fellowship.

Dr. Winberry has been actively involved in research, most recently on sleep disturbances in children with Crohn’s Disease. He shared his knowledge of this, and other research, in numerous articles and at medical conferences nationwide. 

In his free time Dr. Winberry enjoys playing golf, jogging and spending time with his wife and three children.

Dr. Winberry’s nurse was amazing. She listened to my concerns and relayed them to the doctor prior to him coming to see us. Dr. Winberry is wonderful. He explained everything and listened to my concerns. He is extremely knowledgable and we are grateful to have him as part of our medical team. Dr. Winberry goes above and beyond every time we see him and he and his team are very responsive to messages sent through MyChart. Thank you team!!!

Dr. Winberry was wonderful. He familiarized himself with my sons case and was very knowledgable. He spent ample time with us and explained everything. We have many doctors due to my son’s condition, and Dr. Winberry just made top tier!!! I can’t say enough great things about him! I am so glad we found him!

Dr. Winberry is an EXCELLENT Practitioner! We have been to many physicians for [NAME]’s physical issues, and I can honestly say Dr. Winberry was exceptional in his medical explanation to [NAME] and I. His personal delivery of reviewing what the next steps were made [NAME] feel less anxious about upcoming procedures, and I was extremely thankful for that. I would highly recommend Dr. Winberry. Dr. Winbury has drastically improved my child’s quality of life. We have seen GIs all over the country, been inpatient for months at a time, with the same elusive issues for 15 years. No one was able to provide a remedy until the same severe symptoms were witnessed by inpatient staff at Wakemed who consulted Dr. Winbury. The knowledge and most importantly, experience with atypical cases allows him to quickly provide remedies that have improved our quality of life tenfold.

Our daughter saw Dr. Winberry for an in person visit and procedure. The whole time we were at ease that we were in good hands with a knowledgeable Doctor. We were educated and informed and felt like Dr. Winberry took his time answering our questions and addressing our concerns.
