About Me
Dr. Halei Benefield chose pediatrics because it encompasses so many ages and stages, and she genuinely enjoys them all! She especially enjoys helping new parents navigate infancy and breastfeeding. She began her postsecondary education at Duke University in Durham, NC. She went on to earn a doctorate and complete medical school at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC. She completed residency at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Benefield helps children thrive and grow up healthy, guiding them from their earliest days as infants all the way through their formative years into young adulthood and beyond. Her commitment to pediatric care goes beyond treating illnesses; she is dedicated to promoting overall well-being in children at every stage. One of the aspects of her practice that she cherishes most is building long-term relationships with her patients and their families. She believes that fostering these connections allows her to better understand the unique needs of each child, track their growth over time and provide tailored advice and support. Her ultimate goal is to empower families with the knowledge and resources they need to foster healthy lifestyles and positive habits that will last a lifetime.
Outside of work, Dr. Benefield enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children, running, playing in the Durham Medical Orchestra and trying out new baking recipes.
