About Me
Dr. Jisha John is a board-certified, fellowship-trained infectious disease provider with clinical interests spanning the breadth and depth of infectious disease and the challenges therein. She is most intrigued by device-related infections, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections, meningitis, cytomegalovirus (CMV) and infections in immunocompromised patients.
Dr. John received her medical degree from University of Kerala, India before moving to the United States for her residency at Northeast Ohio Medical (NEOMED) University in Youngstown, Ohio. She is an excellent clinician and teacher and the recipient of multiple teaching awards, including the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award. She was the chief resident of internal medicine and completed aninfectious disease fellowship at DMC/Wayne State University in Michigan. She was an assistant professor in internal medicine at NEOMED in Youngstown, Ohio before joining WakeMed's infectious disease team. She has numerous publications and textbook chapters to her credit.
Dr. John believes each patient is unique and has his or her own story. In the era of evidence-driven decisions, she believes it is her right and duty to care for the whole person and advocate for each patient as an individual.
When not at work, Dr. John enjoys exploring outdoors, cooking and spending time with family.
