About Me

Julie Heriot is a board-certified nurse practitioner with clinical interests related to structural heart. Since it is such an exciting and ever-evolving field, she is amazed to see the transformation in patients after valve replacement Heriot previously worked with the structural heart team at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital for three years before joining WakeMed and was exposed to many of the newer valves utilized in Europe and now under research trials in the United States. She earned her undergraduate degree through Samford University in Birmingham, AL. She went on to complete her master’s degree while attending Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, GA.

Heriot’s approach to patient care means treating patients as beloved family members. She enjoys getting to know them and taking her time to listen to their concerns and address their needs. Heriot strives to be a positive influence for each patient and family to optimize the highest quality care.

Outside of work, Heriot is obsessed with her two standard poodles (Bernadette and Reminginton) and spends most of her off hours snuggling or walking them. She also loves moving her body, running half marathons and going to Orange Theory. The aromas from Heriot’s kitchen are oh so attractive as she enjoys making delicious cookies — since she loves baking!
