Kristen Mitchell, NP

Kristen Mitchell is a board-certified adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner caring for vascular surgery patients. She also has clinical interests in critical care medicine, general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery. A lifelong learner, she is dedicated to facilitating and conducting medical research. Mitchell earned undergraduate degrees from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC as well as East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. She went on to complete a master’s degree through Emory University in Greenville, GA.

Mitchell’s philosophy when caring for patients and their families is to maintain patient autonomy and dignity during vulnerable moments. She values respect as an element of care by exploring the patient’s concerns, hopes and fears. In this way, she ensures her patients and their families understand medical diagnoses and evidence-based options for disease management and treatment.

In her free time, Mitchell enjoys reading a good book or watching a show with a cup of tea; cuddling with her dog; needlepointing; attending fitness classes; and spending time with her husband, family and friends.
