Marissa Auth, MSOT, OTR/L, CHT

Marissa Auth is a passionate, sociable, and empathetic certified and licensed occupational therapist (OTR/L) with a specialty in Certified Hand Therapy (CHT). Marissa started working in outpatient orthopaedics immediately out of graduate school in New Jersey and then continued her career in orthopaedics after relocating to the Triangle back in 2020. Marissa started working at Wake Orthopaedics in August 2022 and went on to earn her Hand Therapy Certification in June 2023.

Prior to completing graduate school, Marissa completed a Level II fieldwork in Saint Clare's Hospital's hand therapy department and CareOne's subacute rehabilitation setting up in New Jersey. While in fieldwork, Marissa created a therapeutic device, called the "HandAid", that facilitates grip strength in patients with hand weakness. Additionally, she invented another therapeutic device, called "The Memory Box", in order to strengthen various aspects of cognition including working memory, visual-spatial-sequencing, and visual scanning.

Marissa values quality one-on-one time with her patients in order to educate them on their diagnoses and help them achieve their full potential. Marissa believes that building a strong therapeutic relationship with each client is essential to help optimize therapeutic outcomes and client-centered care.

In her free time, Marissa enjoys spending time with her husband and trying new restaurants throughout the Triangle. Additionally, Marissa enjoys weight lifting and running as well as engaging in various projects around her house.

Activities and societies: Magna Cum Laude; Golden Key International Honor Society 2013; Varsity Track and Field 2012-2016; Varsity Cross Country 2012-2015; Selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as part of the Academic All-America Teams program for Cross Country in 2016; New Jersey Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year 2015; TCNJ's Women's Cross Country Most Valuable Runner 2015.
