About Me

Dr. Matthew Boulos is a board-certified, fellowship-trained doctor of osteopathic medicine with a clinical interest in internal medicine. A lifelong learner, he credits internal medicine as an amazing field, spanning the breadth of health care. Dr. Boulos spent two years covering lung transplant services. He served as a fellow at University of South Carolina/Prisma in Columbia, SC, studying pulmonary and critical care. As a result of these experiences, his favorite subspecialties include pulmonary disease and obesity. Additionally, as he has learned more about sleep physiology and emotional health, he emphasizes their importance to his patients.

Dr. Boulos earned his undergraduate degree from University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Wilmington, NC. He went on to medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA. He completed his residency at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. He has many years of published material, medical volunteerism and research to his credit.

Dr. Boulos is committed to learning as much as he can about his patients. Understanding their lives helps him collaboratively develop treatment plans to prevent and manage their chronic diseases. Realizing nothing more important than disease prevention, he delves into the four pillars essential for good health: exercise, nutrition, sleep and emotional wellness. Dr. Boulos enjoys educating patients about these four pillars of health and figuring out where patients can foster changes realistic to their life circumstances. Using medicine to augment lifestyle for disease management and prevention is an incredible tool for patient support. Yet, where possible, he tries to reduce medication dependence to understand the "why" of someone's symptoms.

Outside of work, Dr. Boulos enjoys reading, writing, working out, traveling, playing and watching sports, going to concerts and spending time with loved ones. He likes being outside with his great pyrenees and getting to the mountains whenever he can.
