About Me
Melissa Loyd is a nurse practitioner in hospital medicine and neonatology with clinical interests in cardiology and special infant care needs. She earned her undergraduate degree through Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY. She, thereafter, relocated to the Triangle, earning her master of science in nursing in the acute care pediatric nurse practitioner program at Duke University School of Nursing in Durham, NC.
Loyd’s primary objective is to deliver personalized care that revolves around the unique needs and circumstances of individual patients and their families. This approach emphasizes the importance of understanding and addressing the specific preferences, values and cultural backgrounds of patients while involving their family members in the care process. By fostering open communication and collaboration, Loyd aims to create a supportive environment that enhances the overall patient experience, ensures that families feel included and promotes optimal health outcomes for all individuals under her care. This commitment to family-centered care reflects Loyd's dedication to treating patients not just as isolated cases, but as integral parts of a broader family unit, leading to more holistic and effective health care.
Outside of work, Loyd leads an active life, hiking, going to the gym, traveling and trying new cuisines.
