About Me

Dr. M. Hamid Bahrami is a board-certified interventional cardiologist and endovascular limb salvage specialist with WakeMed Heart & Vascular. He is specialized in all aspects of cardiovascular disease, with a primary focus on the treatment of complex coronary artery disease and peripheral arterial disease. Dr. Bahrami's expertise includes modern non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment options for coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, critical limb ischemia, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. An avid believer in practicing evidence-based medicine, he is devoted to keeping up with the latest developments in the cardiovascular space and using new technologies. Versed in intravascular imaging and physiologic testing, Dr. Bahrami strives to provide patients with the best outcomes with any interventional procedure.

Highly specialized in limb salvage, Dr. Bahrami treats patients with lower extremity circulatory blockages that may result in the loss of limbs due to injury or blocked blood vessels. Using minimally invasive, non-surgical catheter-based techniques, he seeks to restore blood flow to areas that might have otherwise required amputation. Bahrami is passionate about amputation prevention and limb preservation. Collaboration with wound care specialists and podiatrists is fundamental to his practice and patient care. Critical limb patients often have a history of diabetes and include patients with nonhealing wounds, ulcers and gangrene.

Dr. Bahrami earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. He then completed his residency in internal medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. His remaining training, including fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology, were completed at Indiana University in Indianapolis, IN.

His ambition is to treat patients and their families with compassionate, personalized care of the highest quality. He considers every patient unique and emphasizes communication and shared decision-making with patients and their families.

In his free time, he plays sports and loves to try new restaurants. He enjoys time with his family going to the park, hiking and traveling within the United States and abroad.
