About Me

Dr. McLawhorn is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is a fellow with the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG). Practicing since 2002, she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, after earning her medical degree from The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

McLawhorn received her bachelor of science in health and sports medicine from Wake Forest University. Her clinical interests include routine and high-risk obstetrics, family planning and contraception, infertility, abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroid management, minimally invasive surgery and in office procedures such as hysteroscopy and endometrial ablation.

Overall, I would say that my initial visit went very well. The transition from registration to the initial appointment itself went very smoothly. Dr. McLawhorn provided exceptional service and was very informative. She made me feel comfortable and provided me with additional information to help ensure that I have an healthy pregnancy.

The lady that checked me out and helped me out with our new insurance policy was amazing and went above and beyond as far as I'm concerned. I wish I remembered her name, but she was at the intake desk that was accessible to the checkout window as well.

Huge thank you to Dr. McLawhorn who suggested I go to the hospital for further evaluation based off her assessment during my prenatal visit. Although I was hesitant, she made sure I understood the urgency of her assessment findings which ended up with me delivering a healthy baby girl. Knowing what I know now, I’m so glad I went to the hospital because it may not have turned out well for me or my baby otherwise. Thanks so much to you Dr. McLawhorn and Dr. [] who delivered my baby. You all at WakeMed OBGYN Brier Creek are phenomenal and I’m glad to have had my second child with you all!

Online assistance and quick reply by the medical staff nurses for any issue or medication required. That’s the best thing I found about this hospital till now. Scheduling visits with every provider who could be present at the time of delivery so that everyone knows the case.
