Renee Haynesworth, MD, FAAP

Dr. Renee Haynesworth is a board-certified pediatrician with more than two decades of clinical, teaching and leadership experience in multiple outpatient settings along with accompanying inpatient experience. Prior to joining WakeMed Pediatric Primary Care, Dr. Haynesworth both worked at a UNC Pediatrics practice and also proudly served as an Army Civilian Physician at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg). During her time at Fort Liberty, she was the primary clinical preceptor for their medical students in outpatient pediatrics. As a result, she was appointed Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.

Her clinical interests include helping new mothers and babies with breastfeeding, caring for children with special needs, such as autism and Down syndrome as well as the teaching of medical students and residents.

Dr. Haynesworth’s philosophy and approach to patient care is one of partnership. Her goal is to use her education and experience to collaborate with patients and their families toward optimal health — not only through regular wellness visits but also during illnesses.

Outside of work, Dr. Haynesworth enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her husband and young adult children.
