Richard T. Kiok, MD

Dr. Richard T. Kiok is board certified in internal medicine with clinical interests in teaching and mentoring residents and other members of the health care team. He also has a special interest in exploring technology to aid everyday clinical work. Realizing he owes of debt of gratitude to numerous mentors along his path who nurtured and guided him in health care, he helps burgeoning members of the clinical team develop their interests and capabilities as well as identify and overcome their weaknesses to excel in their unique journeys. With regard to technology, he utilizes tools such as Epic to help minimize manual tasks, so more time can be spent connecting with patients, their loved ones and the rest of the care team to progress clinical care.

Dr. Kiok earned a bachelor of science in engineering and masters in biotechnology from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. After working in management consulting for a few years, he returned to the University of Pennsylvania to complete a post-baccalaureate program in special sciences. Dr. Kiok attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his internship and residency at WellSpan York Hospital in York, PA. Later, he attended the Physicians Leadership College at University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.

Dr. Kiok emphasizes counseling patients and loved ones regarding their medical condition and the plan of care. Helping them understand what is going on and what the care team would like to accomplish aids everyone in withstanding the ups and downs of the recovery process.

Outside of work, Dr. Kiok is an avid sports fan. He loves college and professional basketball and football and has remained loyal to his Wolverines and Eagles despite numerous changes in geography over the years.
