About Me

Sara Lynn Skillman is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner with clinical interests in diabetes, mental health and newborn care. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from East Carolina University and master’s degree in nursing from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Skillman’s nursing background includes pediatric intensive care in addition to general pediatric primary care.

Skillman uses a gentle, caring approach with her patients. Establishing a strong patient-provider relationship is important to her, including using an evidence-based practice to guide her treatment plans. Outside of work, Skillman enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, walking their dogs and visiting Ocracoke.

The advice and explanation given in regards to breastfeeding my daughter was very helpful. The tips she gave helped us get her weight up to where it needed to be!! Very greatful for the insight Mrs Skillman provided!!

Ms. Sara Lynn Skillman was a pleasure to work with. For the first time since we started to attend WakeMed Children's-Pediatric Primary Care in clayton, I felt I was actually being listened to. She addressed all my concerns and got us all the necessary referrals we needed. Everything she said she would do, she did. I would definitely recommend her. She is an excellent provider.
