Sebastian Werner, MD

Dr. Sebastian Werner is a hospitalist with a clinical interest in enhancing health care quality from the perspective of patients and providers alike. He is committed to reducing inefficiencies and improving communication to ensure the medical system can operate as smoothly as possible. As a child of immigrants from Chile and Venezuela, he is also passionate about serving the migrant Latinx population as they work to navigate the difficult transition to a new community. He completed all of his education in the University of North Carolina system in Chapel Hill. He earned his undergraduate degree through University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He went on to medical school at University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He completed residency at University of North Carolina Hospitals.

Dr. Werner’s personal patient care philosophy encompasses an understanding that providers are privileged to share in some of the most profound moments in patients' lives. Whether moments of joy, healing, pain or loss, he does not take for granted the trust that patients and families place in him to accompany and support them. He views his work as an opportunity to listen and learn before understanding how best to serve.

Outside of work, Dr. Werner loves spending time with his wife, whether they are cooking, hiking, going to concerts or traveling together. Their favorite place to visit is the beach because they get to spend time with their niece, Lucy.
