Terence Makoid, NP

Terence Makoid is a hospital medicine nurse practitioner with clinical interests in caring for patients with acute health needs. He especially enjoys supporting cardiac and post-operative patients — where he has focused the majority of his nursing career. He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC.

Makoid believes in caring for the whole patient. As such, he first discovers how they perceive their health and then encourages them to be a part of the treatment and planning process. He finds patient engagement is core to patients sticking to treatment plans as outlined. Additionally, Makoid observes that social determinants of health, such as financial restraints or lack of transportation, are each critical barriers in adherence to prescribed treatment, so he integrates this knowledge into his protocols to ensure best patient outcomes.

Outside of work, Makoid is a husband, father of two children — William and Sidney — as well as a dog and cat fur parent. In his free time, he loves to exercise and catch up with friends.
