Injury Prevention
Routine daily activities can lead to weakness, numbness, and pain, and even exercise, such as running or jogging, can negatively impact the knee joint.
It is possible, however, to stay active without injuring your knees. Consider swimming, walking, or biking as alternatives that will maintain your knees’ strength, flexibility, and health.
Additionally, it is very important for athletes to focus on strengthening supporting muscles and stretching properly before and after vigorous activity. WakeMed and the North Carolina Football Club (NCFC) have partnered to provide young athletes and their families with information on nutrition and injury prevention, including proper stretching before activities.
