Ureteroscopy
Ureteroscopy, performed under general anesthesia, is surgery done without incisions. Our skilled urologists use a very small, fiber-optic instrument called a ureteroscope, which travels to the location of stones in the ureter or kidney. This scope lets the urologist see the stone in the urinary tract.
When the stone is located, the urologist uses a tiny basket-like device to grasp small stones and remove them. If a stone is too big to remove, it can be broken into smaller, easy-to-remove pieces using lasers.
Patients normally go home the same day and can resume normal activity in a few days.
