STABLE

Individuals attending this program MUST have completed the online STABLE exam prior to arriving at the beginning of class:

• If you are a WakeMed employee, STABLE registration is now in WakeMedU . Once you are registered for the STABLE class through WakeMedU you will receive a confirmation email. You will also receive another email 30 days prior to your class that will explain how to complete your pretest.
• If you are NOT a WakeMed employee, you can register for a STABLE class by emailing simulation@wakemed.org. or by calling 919-350-1700 x10039. Details and cost information will be answered at that time.
• The course textbook is available at the Medical Simulation Center. There is a $50.00 deposit or payroll deduction to borrow the book. No charges will be made if the book is returned within 7 days of class completion.

Certification Cards

Certifications will be issued at the completion of the class and cards issued within 30 days of completion.

Cancellation Policy

A full refund is provided to those that cancel their registration within 7 days of the course start date. A full refund will only be processed if the participant returns any course materials to the course sponsor. The refund will be processed onto the original method of payment. If the participant paid by check, a check will be sent to the mailing address listed on the registration form.

NO refund will be provided to those that cancel their registration between 0-7 days of the course start date. A no-show is considered any individual that cancels 24 hours prior to the course start or fails to show up to class without notifying the Medical Simulation Center.

Course Description

S.T.A.B.L.E. is the most widely distributed and implemented neonatal education program to focus exclusively on the post-resuscitation/pre-transport stabilization care of sick infants. Based on a mnemonic to optimize learning, retention and recall of information, S.T.A.B.L.E. stands for the six assessments and care modules in the program: Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work, and Emotional support. A seventh module, Quality Improvement stresses the professional responsibility of improving and evaluating care provided to sick infants.

First introduced in 1996 in the US and Canada, S.T.A.B.L.E. has grown internationally to include instructor training and courses in more than 45 countries. Currently, there are more than 3,400 registered instructors worldwide and more than 274,000 neonatal healthcare providers have completed an S.T.A.B.L.E. learner course.

Completion of the program does not imply that an individual has the competence to perform neonatal resuscitation. Each hospital is responsible for determining the level of competence and qualifications required for someone to assume clinical responsibility for neonatal resuscitation.
