A stroke is essentially a brain attack – it occurs when a part of the body loses function due a disruption of blood flow in the brain. When this happens, due to blockage from buildup in the arteries or a vessel in the brain bursts, the affected area cannot get oxygen or nutrients. This can cause a multitude of symptoms, ranging from paralysis and vision changes to difficulty speaking and severe headache.
