WakeMed APP Fellowship Program

About Our Organization

Since its inception, WakeMed Health & Hospitals has provided high-quality, evidence-based practices for our patients and the community. As early advocates for the Advanced Practice Provider (APP), WakeMed has continually promoted the inclusion of APPs in our health system. In 2008, WakeMed started the “General Surgery/Trauma PA Residency Program”, graduating 2 PA residents. Since then, the program has seen a lot of change and growth! In 2020 the program officially changed its name to the “WakeMed APP Fellowship Program” as it started accepting both PAs and NPs into the program, and the number of tracks offered grew from one to 5. In 2021 the program again grew, adding an additional 2 tracks, with another 3 tracks being added in 2022. Currently, the program has a total of 10 different tracks, spanning a wide variety of specialties.

Since 2008, 45 APPs have graduated from the program.  Below is a small sample size of specialties our graduates are currently working in, and a small example of the institutions where they are working:

Current Tracks
